"זה היום עשה ה' נגילה ונשמחה בו"
“This is the day that Hashem made, let us rejoice and be happy in it.”
With tremendous excitement and gratitude to all those who made it possible, our middle school students “moved up” to the new floor in the YHT building. At special assemblies, Rabbi Menchel spoke about the הכרת הטוב that we all have for the incredible accomplishment of, in such a short time span and in such difficult economic times, the YHT family pulled together to allow our yeshiva to grow and continue to provide the finest Jewish and General Studies education in an appropriate facility with ample space for all. Special thanks were given to Mr. Alan Steinberg, our director of development who guided this project to successful fruition, to Mr. Fox ,our executive director for all of his efforts and to Tony Salazar, our head of maintenance, for all of his hard work. Rabbi Menchel emphasized the foundation of קדושה that has been present since the beginning of Yeshiva Har Torah and shared with the students his happi9ness that the very same קדושה has now risen to a “higher level” on the new floor! After reviewing the special הלכות that pertain to putting up מזוזות in a school building which is a מקום תורה, Rabbi menchel introduced Mr. Steinberg to a standing ovation from the students. Mr. Steinberg then showed “a behind the scenes” slide show that highlighted the construction process and reemphasized to the students the incredible efforts that went into this project. Mr. Steinberg pointed out to the students that it was Rabbi Menchel’s vison and leadership that galvanized everyone involved to exert so much time and effort into expanding our yeshiva.
After the assemblies, all of the students who moved onto the new floor were treated to a doughnut party and then were given time to “tour” the new floor, locate their new lockers and settle into their new classrooms. Throughout that first day, Rabbi Menchel invited every class from Nursery through 8th grade to join him in putting up the מזוזות on all of the new doorways. Rabbi Menchel showed the students the קלף, discussed what was written on it and gave דברי ברכה to the students.
